About Sky Valley Design
Hi - my name is Sam Richardson and I run Sky Valley Design. I am a website designer and developer specializing in creating successful web presences for businesses. I do this by developing eye-catching business websites that are both user and search engine friendly using professional design and coding techniques as well as incorporating a variety of powerful web services.
I started out in 2003 as a video production company. Drawing from over 10 years of audio and video production experience I began to offer professional video services for businesses in the Philadelphia/Baltimore area. I produced television commercials, promotional videos, training videos and everything in between for a number of local businesses through 2009.
In January 2007 I began learning to make websites out of frustration with the business website I had paid to be created. I was immediately fascinated with HTML and CSS and began learning a great deal about the foundation of website design and coding. Six months later I began making a few simple websites for starting businesses. As my coding skills developed I also honed the design skills I had learned through video production and began to tie the two together into one workflow.
Since then I have had a lot of hands on experience creating a variety of different websites for business clients. Along the way I have continued to improve and refine my skills, and I have also done a lot of reading and research about best practices for web design, user interface design, typography, and search engine optimization. I have also added some new skills like basic javascript and php, coding for email, and using dynamic tools like jquery and flash.
There are many great web services and applications I have had the opportunity to work with so far like Blogger, WordPress, Shopify, Nexternal, RapidWeaver, MadMimi, and MailChimp. I am always up for getting involved with new applications as well to expand my knowledge.
One of my main non-technical strengths is my people skills. I feel that I offer a casual yet professional attitude that has served me and my diverse clientele quite well.
